ZSL-92B IFV

The ZSL-92 (another designation: WZ 551) is a modern Chinese infantry fighting vehicle (IFV). The first prototypes of the vehicle were probably created in the 1990s, and the car entered mass production in 1995. The ZSL-92 is powered by a single engine Deutz BF8L 413FC with 320 hp. The basic version of the vehicle is armed with a 25mm autocannon and two 7.62mm and 12.7mm machine guns. Vehicle The ZSL-92 was created in response to the demand of the Chinese armed forces for a new wheeled armored personnel carrier for mechanized infantry units. The NORINCO concern is responsible for the design and construction. The overall outline and concept of the ZSL-92 was probably influenced by the French VAB 6x6 vehicle. The first production batches of the ZSL-92 (in the Chinese nomenclature: Type 90) did not meet the requirements of the Chinese army in terms of engine power, mobility and structural strength. The Type 90 was therefore significantly modified and later entered mass production as the ZSL-92A (in Chinese nomenclature: Type 92). The ZSL-92A vehicles are characterized by good off-road characteristics, decent armor and relatively strong armament. Based on the ZSL-92 vehicle, a self-propelled 120 mm mortar was developed, designated PLL-05. The ZSL-92 vehicles have been delivered to many foreign operators, including Algeria, Angola, Burma, Sri Lanka and Venezuela.
