The 2S23 Nona-SVK is a Soviet, and currently Russian, self-propelled mortar on a wheeled chassis from the late Cold War and modern times. The first prototypes of this vehicle were created in the late 1980s and the vehicle entered service in 1990. The car is about 7.5 meters long, 2.9 meters wide and 2.75 meters high. The drive is provided by a single Kamaz-7403 engine with a capacity of 260 HP. The main armament of the vehicle is a 120mm 2A60 mortar and a single 7.62mm machine gun. The 2S23 Nona-SVK self-propelled mortar was developed on the basis of an analogous weapon system, but designated as 2S9 Nona on a tracked chassis. It is also worth adding that the 2S23 Nona-SVK was developed primarily for the use in motorized and mechanized infantry units of the Soviet Army, and later the land forces of the Russian Federation. Thus, not as much importance was attached to the low weight of the car as in the design of the 2S9. In order to shorten the research and development time, the BTR-80 armored personnel carrier was used as a wheeled platform. Without a doubt, the 2S23 Nona-SVK turned out to be a successful structure with considerable mobility, good firepower and relatively low production and operating costs. It is worth adding that the 2S23 Nona-SVK was exported to Venezuela.
