The Heinkel He 280 was a German-made single-seat experimental fighter plane with a metal structure. The propulsion was provided by two Heinkel HeS-8A or Jumo004A turbojet engines. The prototype flight took place in April 1941. It was the first ever turbojet to take off the air! However, the machine never entered mass production and only 8 prototypes were built. The He 280 was created as a very far-reaching development of the He 178 aircraft. First of all, the fuselage was significantly changed compared to its predecessor, the shape of the wings, the tail tail, and instead of a single-engine machine, the He 280 became a twin-engine aircraft. Weapons consisting of 3 20mm MG151 cannons have also been added. Despite the high maximum speed (approx. 820 km / h!), The plane did not attract the attention of the Reich Ministry of Aviation. It also turned out to be an emergency machine due to the use of unsuccessful Heinkel HeS-8A engines on its first copies.
