SUKHOI SU-28

Sukhoi Su-28 was a Soviet, and is now a Russian, mid-wing jet trainer. The flight of the prototype took place in 1987. The drive is provided by two TRD R-95 engines with a thrust of 40 kN each. The machine is 15.36 meters long with a wingspan of 14.36 meters. The top speed is around 950 km / h. The Su-28 was created as a private initiative of the Sukhoi aviation company, as a potential successor of the L-29 Delfin and L-39 Albatros aircraft. In order to shorten the research and development work, the manufacturer relied heavily on the construction of the new machine on the Su-25UB plane. The main changes concerned the use of a different type of avionics, depriving the Su-28 of the possibility of carrying weapons, but also the elimination of engine compartment armor or electronic countermeasures. However, the possibility of returning the plane to base with only one engine working was preserved. Sukhoi Su-28 is dedicated rather to intermediate and advanced training, as well as training flights in formations. It is also used as an aerobatic machine.
